"Four Part Harmony" by Kari Lehr
"The idea for this painting was to illustrate a musical metaphor. Flora, Fauna, Earth, and Water. Each element an essential part of the overarching melody governing the life sustaining system of our natural world."

"Roxy Front of Building" by Frits Pannekoek
"The Roxy painting was inspired by the complexity of its architectural shapes and shadows. I have painted a half dozen or so of historic Crowsnest Pass buildings these last two years and this one was my favorite. It has so much historic meaning, and complexity of deal and memories."

The Golden Age of Cinema Event
Saturday October 4,2025 12 to 4 pm the Roxy Restoration Committee honoured donors of the Roxy project. A group of 22 people enjoyed a delicious grazing table by Country Encounters. They were entertained by Local Kevin Smith, each selected a movie item for a photo at the photo booth provided by Howard Vandenhoef Communications Director for Crowsnest Cultural and Recreation society. President Tim Juhlin opened the event with a welcome and thank you to donors and MLA Chelsea Petrovic then addressed the group praising the work and the project while complimenting the community for their support.
Each guest received a Roxy pin, a highlight of the day was the attendance of Kay (Ferschweiler) Stafinski, her daughter and Kelly Dobek. Both families have ties to the Roxy theatre. An update was provided by Don Budgen and those wishing, were taken on a tour of the Roxy.
The day was very much enjoyed by those who attended.
On behalf of Crowsnest Cultural and Recreation Society and the Roxy committee we extend our heartfelt thanks and express deep gratitude to all who have made donations and offered support and or sponsored a seat for this project.
You have brought the Roxy back to life, the marquee will be lit up once again, the popcorn will overflow and the music will waft from the rafters.
Cheers to all

Our greatest appreciation goes out to Annemarie Neudorf and the grade 4 students of Isabelle Sellon School speaking about why the Roxy should be a part of our community and about what it means to them.

Work underway in Alberta town to restore one of last remaining Quonset-style theatres

The Roxy Theatre was built in 1948 following the devastating fire that consumed Coleman’s Palace Theatre. Despite facing another fire setback in 1950 (pictured here), it remained a cherished cultural cornerstone, providing recreation and entertainment to locals and tourists alike. However, as local industry waned and the community suffered economically, the Roxy Theatre closed its doors in 2003, leaving it empty and facing demolition. Today, the pressing need for a multi-use performance space is evident. The Roxy Theatre, with your help, can reclaim its former glory (with enhanced fire safety measures), as a vibrant community performing arts centre for the Crowsnest Pass! Join us in restoring this iconic landmark and revitalizing our cultural landscape.

The Act III Together We Can Do It fundraiser for the Crowsnest Cultural and Recreation Society (Cando for short) is experiencing a series of successes in fundraising that started with a donation and early recognition from the Blairmore Lions Club. Scene Two of Act III is underway! This is an opportunity for families in the Crowsnest Pass and elsewhere to recognize passed loved ones and honor current family members through a Roxy Chair recognition campaign. The Four Seat recognition categories are priced at $500, $1000, $1500, and $2000 depending on location in the Roxy Theatre. Your name or in memoriam names will be etched on a Wall of Fame located in the Roxy Lounge area. All funds donated to the seat recognition campaign will receive a tax receipt. Funds will be used for chair, theatre and foyer atmosphere enhancements.
Seat recognition donors will be placed on an early notification list for most events which will allow for the opportunity to purchase event tickets in advance of notification to the general public.
Construction activities began in May of 2023 and the completion of the process will depend on ongoing donations from the public, Corporations and Federal and Provincial grants that recognize the Historical designation of the Roxy.
This is a great opportunity to be recognized for contributing to a much-needed facility. Here is everyone’s chance to build something new and vibrant. The Roxy Performing Arts Centre will be a going concern. Become part of a Crowsnest Pass and this historic opportunity by etching your name in the Roxy and gaining recognition that will last!
