From our last AGM meeting the Cando Society  has been pursuing the purchase of the Roxy Theater.   The Board is happy to announce that the owners of the Roxy and the Cando Society have come to an agreement on the purchase price for the property.   We cannot disclose the details of the agreement until after the closing date which is the end of January to respect the privacy of the seller.  We can however disclose that through the generosity and community spirit of the current owners, their asking price is well below assessed value.   The current owners are happy to see this project be turned over to a community based organization to the benefit of our community and we thank them for their support in our endeavor.
 
We are currently working on our fund raising campaign which will consist of a number of stages.  Act one is to raise $ 50,000.00 for the purchase price and the initial studies for the project.   We are looking to complete this fund raising by the end of the year.  Act two will run until Spring /Summer of 2021 and we will need to raise $100,000.00 for design and engineering planning to facilitate the restoration and construction phase of the project.   We are hoping to have a successful Wintervention to start off this part of our fund raising season.

 We will also be needing people to sit on various committees to guide our project through.  Should anyone be interested please submit your name to Howard and we will put you on the appropriate committee as the projects move forward.
